About Us:
The Roots Users Group of Portland, Oregon (RUGPO) was organized in February 1990. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt fraternal mutual self-help group of amateur genealogists who use The Master Genealogist , a genealogical software program (developed by Wholly Genes, Inc.), which is distributed nationwide.
A number of changes in the operation of our organization have recently been made; including a name change, meeting schedule, and educational offerings. We have filed the appropriate papers with the Oregon Corporation Commissioner and are now doing business as (DBA) "The Master Genealogist Software Users Group of Portland, Oregon." For practical reasons we will be known as TMG SUG Portland, OR. (Our web page domain remains RUG, for the time being.)
We also support genealogists who use the now discontinued programs known as ROOTS and Ultimate Family Tree. While most of our members are from Oregon and southwest Washington, we have members from throughout the United States and a few from other countries.
